Tottenham prepare to welcome League One outfit Portsmouth as their FA Cup campaign in the 2022/2023 season begins. This fixture was a regular Premier League game for Pompey once upon a time, before their descent down the pyramid began.

After a disappointing New Year’s Day defeat to Aston Villa, Spurs bounced back in the best way by beating Crystal Palace 4-0. Meanwhile, Portsmouth have just one in five, and recently parted ways with manager Danny Cowley.

The Lilywhites will be looking to win this competition as their long, 15-year trophy drought continues. Portsmouth also have a rich history in the FA Cup though, winning the trophy back in 2008, with Harry Redknapp at the helm.

Tottenham will be without the likes of some key players including Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Moura and Rodrigo Bentancur, who all remain out through injury. However, Yves Bissouma’s suspension is over and Spurs’ summer signing will be ready for selection.

Spurs may however call on some of the players who currently struggle for minutes. Summer signing Djed Spence, along with the likes of Pape Sarr, Japhet Tanganga and more could get some valuable game time.

When does Tottenham v Portsmouth kick off?

Tottenham v Portsmouth will kick off at 12.30pm on Saturday (January 7). The game will be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
