Tottenham and Chelsea only have a matter of hours remaining before the transfer window slams shut and both clubs continue to be heavily linked with a number of stars.

Spurs have already strengthened their squad with eight fresh faces, while the Blues are still in need of a number of new signings to join the likes of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Here are the latest headlines on deadline day...

Spurs reject interest from Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur have ‘little interest’ in allowing Lucas Moura to leave on loan this summer, according to Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope.

Aston Villa were reportedly considering a late move for the Brazilian as they look to bolster their attack, however it is thought that Antonio Conte wants to keep him as an option as their fixtures add up throughout the season.

Lucas has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski and has only made two league appearances from the bench so far this season.

Ajax midfielder ‘pushing’ for Chelsea switch

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Ajax’s Edson Alvarez today and reports claim that he is desperate to join the Premier League club.

Sky Sports had reported that the Blues have made a £43 million bid for Alvarez, however Ajax are keen to keep the player beyond tonight’s deadline.

The Mexican is unhappy with his club’s approach and has reportedly refused to train today as he looks to force through a move to Stamford Bridge.

Alvarez has made three appearances in the Eredivisie this season and could be the third star to leave Amsterdam for England this summer - with Antony and Lisandro Martinez signing for Manchester United.
