For their part, Mikel Arteta’s men are still top of the table, but are just a point clear of Tottenham.

Chelsea have discussed the possibility of making an approach for Leeds United’s director of football Victor Orta. The Blues are also said to have held an interest in Christoph Freund, but he has decided to stay at Red Bull Salzburg. (The Telegraph)

Chelsea are the latest club to be credited with an interest in Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz. The Brazilian is valued at around £40 million by Villa, but is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to hold talks with other clubs in the January transfer window. Chelsea are yet to discuss the possibility of signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, despite the “obvious” links between the player and new Stamford Bridge manager Graham Potter, according to transfer insider Dean Jones. He said: “It’s an obvious link to make with Caicedo and I am not ruling out that it could be one they pursue, but he hasn’t really cropped up in many conversations as far as I have heard. Beyond that, we know they like [Declan] Rice, [Jude] Bellingham, and Edson Alvarez so there’s a lot to consider.” (GIVEMESPORT)
