Spurs have already enjoyed a busy summer, snapping up a number of new signings in a bid to turn a top four finish into a title bid.

Those new signings have helped Antonio Conte’s men put together a fine start to the season, remaining unbeaten after five games.

Tottenham did draw against West Ham on Wednesday night, but they can still be pleased to have picked up 11 points from a possible 15, sitting third in the table.

Conte will still want more, though, and another new signing ahead of the transfer deadline could help.

A winger is said to be the priority, and it seems Spurs may already have one in mind.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham are eyeing a deal to land Monaco star Gelson Martins.

Spurs were considering a deal for Leeds United star Daniel James, but not able to offer the Welshman regular football, they look to have missed out to Fulham.

Martins is now said to be an option, able to play as a winger on both sides.

Whether Spurs will actually make a move ahead of Thursday night’s deadline remains to be seen, but it’s reported that they are keeping an eye.

Martins is under contract at Monaco until 2024, and he is valued at £13.5million by Transfermarkt.

Describing his style of play in 2020, Martins told Monaco’s official website: “My football is dribbling, speed, speed.

“What I need to improve now is really my stats, I want to be more decisive, score goals and make assists. My performance must be higher at this level to help the team more.”

Interestingly, the winger was once suspended for six months for repeatedly pushing a referee during a Monaco outing.

But the incident is now behind him, and he has gained plenty of experience since.
