All the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Tottenham ahead of the Premier League’s return.

Tottenham are closing in on their return to Premier League action after their friendly draw with Nice on Wednesday night.

That was Spurs’ final outing before their return to competitive action, against London rivals Brentford on Boxing Day. Tottenham did manage to go into the break on the back of a win, keeping hold of fourth spot, but they have largely struggled for consistency so far this season. Antonio Conte’s men will want to hit the ground running against the Bees.

In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Tottenham with the January window approaching.

Mendy claims

Tottenham are said to be interested in pulling off a shock move for Chelsea star Edouard Mendy.

According to The Sun, Mendy has rejected a bumper six-year contract from the Blues, feeling ‘insulted’ by the fact the wage in the deal is not as high as what Kepa Arrizabalaga earns. That could mean Mendy leaves Chelsea sooner than expected, and 90 min, via TeamTalk, claim Tottenham could be interested amid uncertainty over Hugo Lloris’ future.

Mendy is currently under contract until 2025, and he is valued at around £20million, the price Chelsea bought him for back in 2020.

Gordon blow

Tottenham look set to miss out on Everton starlet Anthony Gordon despite recent links.

Recent reports have claimed Spurs are interested in the forward, who was facing a sticky contract situation at Everton. But according to I News, Everton have struck a breakthrough with Gordon, expected to announce a new contract with the star by the end of the week.

That would put Gordon out of reach for Tottenham and likely end all interest. The Everton star was valued at around £60million before the new deal, so his value will likely sky-rocket from this point.
