Forgotten Tottenham Hotspur forward Bryan Gil had received a late call-up to represent Spain over the upcoming international break in what would have been the 23-year-old's first time back in the squad since October 2021.
The winger arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from Sevilla for £21 million in 2021 but never really settled in North London. Gil had been sent out on loan to Valencia and Sevilla before joining Girona this summer, making 43 Spurs appearances without a goal.

The player has been in and out of the starting XI with the Blanquivermells in Catalunya, scoring once so far this season, but has shown enough in his performances to catch the eye of Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente - Estadio, via SportWitness, report that the forward is 'getting back to his best' on his latest loan spell.
Gil, who was also named Girona's Player of the Month in August, last represented his country in a Nations League match against Italy in October 2021 but received a late call-up over the week-end.

Barcelona star Ferran Torres and Real Madrid man Dani Carvajal have been forced to withdraw from international duty with Gil and Osasuna man Bryan Zaragoza benefiting. However, in the hours after the landmark news for Gil, it has emerged that an injury will stop that long-awaited return to international stardom.
A statement from the Spanish national side said: "Bryan Gil, a player for Griona, is out with physical discomfort and will not train with the Spanish national team following conversations between the medical team at his club and the national side. The striker was called up by Luis de la Fuente to play against Denmark in Murcia and against Serbia in Cordoba in the Nations League."

Hide AdPostecoglou had hoped player would be ‘important’ at Spurs
Having spent much of his Spurs career on loan and played just 200 Premier League minutes last season, Gil has become somewhat of a forgotten figure at Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou had hoped the Spaniard could be an 'important' part of the side early last season, but that did not emerge to be the case.
Speaking last October, Postecoglou said: “Bryan is one where in the last couple of weeks, it’s been great to have him working really hard in training, he’s missed all of the season so far, and it’s well chronicled that we’ve lost Ivan (Perisic) and lost Manor (Solomon), who play in that left wing position, so having Bryan available again ins great for us.
“He’s in the same place as everyone else, at some point he’ll get an opportunity and then it’s up to him. He certainly has all the criteria to play in that position for us and his training is getting stronger now, he’s part of the group and I’m sure he’ll get an opportunity."
