Luis Diaz stance on Tottenham transfer links revealed amid £38m claim

Spurs are one of three Premier League clubs interested in the Colombian.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a quiet January transfer window so far with no signings made under Antonio Conte.

There are five days remaining in the winter window for the Italian to bolster his squad, with Adama Traore and Sofyan Amrabat just two of several players on their radar.

However, if reports are to be believed, they’ve suffered a setback with another of their targets - Porto winger Luis Diaz.

Spurs are pursuing the Colombian this month, but have had a £37.6m bid rejected from the Portuguese club, according to The Guardian.

The site claims the 25-year-old has a £66m release clause in his contract and Porto think Tottenham’s opening bid is ‘not enough’.

To add to this, Diaz is said to be ‘relaxed’ on any potential move to Conte’s side due to interest elsewhere.

As per the Express, the player is aware of other clubs wanting to sign him and could wait until the summer before leaving Portugal, especially if Spurs fail to meet Porto’s valuation.

Claims the winger isn’t keen on a move to north London during the winter window are also being reported by Record.

The newspaper states the 25-year-old wants to remain in Portugal for the rest of the season in order to see if other interested clubs offer him a move in the summer.

Diaz has made 28 appearances for the Primeira Liga table-toppers in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and assisting his teammates on six occasions.

Any potential deal during the January transfer window could face problems, as the winger is currently away on international duty with Colombia until February 1.
