Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is facing one of the most challenging periods at the club.

This comes after FIFA confirmed that Football Director Fabio Paratici’s ban has been extended worldwide, making his job at Spurs almost impossible at the moment.

Paratici, an experienced director of football, was banned along with other current and former Juventus executives who were found guilty of false accounting. Despite his and his colleagues’ unsuccessful appeal, they were punished accordingly.

In January, Italian giants Juventus were deducted 15 points following investigations that revealed they were tampering with their accounts. Paratici, who only on Tuesday urged Tottenham fans to get behind the team following Antonio Conte’s sacking, was banned for 30 months, the longest punishment for all 12 members involved in the ‘Prisma’ investigation.

What Does this mean for his role in Tottenham

Fabio Paratici spent 11 years at Juventus and was their football director for three years before joining Tottenham.

He played a key role in the appointment of former manager Antonio Conte, who had previously turned down the job when approached by Levy.

Paratici was also responsible for leading negotiations, using his contacts to bring in players such as Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski to strengthen the team when they secured a top-four finish last season.

However, the fact that he has now been banned for 30 months means he cannot continue in his role, leaving chairman Daniel Levy with more work to do than he would have wanted at this crucial time.

Spurs are in the midst of searching for a new permanent manager, their ninth since they last won a trophy in 2008, and with Paratici banned from football, Levy is left to tackle this challenge alone.

Can Paratici appeal this worldwide ban

This is possible as he was already appealing the ban he received in Italian football but that leaves Tottenham chairman with a big decision to make. He now has top decided whether to keep him until the appeal process is exhausted or cut ties now and move on.
