Fans of PSG are reportedly not satisfied with the Argentine manager’s work, after a round of sixteen exit in the Champions League to eventual finalist Real Madrid.

Pochettino himself is said to be unsettled in Paris and was eyeing up the Manchester United job, which has now been offered to Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag.

According to reports in L’Equipe, the Argentine manager is high on the list of Athletic Bilbao, whose manager Marcelino is under huge pressure after a 1-0 loss to Granada.

The Basque club are currently eighth in the league but had started the season so well that their recent slump has been met with huge frustrations from the club’s fans and Marcelino is in serious trouble.

Pochettino still has a contract at PSG until 2023, but it’s become obvious that he will not be in charge of the club next season.

Spanish connection

The former Argentine manager was manager of Espanyol between 2009 to 2012 where he cut his teeth, before moving to Southampton and eventually Tottenham Hotspurs.

He was once so popular at Espanyol that he declared he would never manage Barcelona, even though there is a feeling that stance has softened with time.

His knowledge of the Spanish game and the experience he gathered, coaching across the continent, has made him an interesting and tempting choice for most teams in England and Spain, and it will be interesting to see if he goes back to Spain in the summer.

He has also been linked with a return to Spurs should Antonio Conte depart.
