Dejan Kulusevski makes fresh claim about Tottenham’s style of play after Southampton win

Dejan Kulusevski is loving life under Antonio Conte and leading from the front at Tottenham.

Tottenham’s man of the moment Dejan Kulusevski claims he likes the style of play under Antonio Conte after helping Spurs come from a goal down to beat Southampton 4-1 in the Premier League.

The young Swede has become a fan favourite after putting in sterling performances since arriving in north London.

Against Southampton it was his inviting cross which Ryan Sessegnon connected with to draw Spurs level, and he returned late on in the game to wrap it all up with his first goal at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

In between all that Eric Dier scored his first Premier League goal in three years and full-back Emerson Royal forced Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu to put through his own net.

And even though Tottenham heads would have dropped after James Ward-Prowse hit his half volley against the turf and watched it go pass Hugo Lloris into the net, it’s  Dejan Kulusevski’s overall contribution that is turning heads and lifting moods at the moment.

He admits his form is good but it’s also down to the way the team has been programmed to play.

He told reporters after the game: “ We are very satisfied, it was not an easy match. Losing at home is not fun but after we scored we could have scored many more.

“I love the way the team plays because we create so many chances. The fans enjoy it and I like to play.

“I have missed playing. It’s so nice to be back and play in front of the fans and family. I really enjoyed it.

Storming start to life in the Premier League

The former Parma midfielder was one of the game changers for Spurs last season and his arrival at the club powered them to finish the campaign strongly and secure Champions League football.

His five goals and eight assists brought the Lillywhites crucial points and he’s started the season just the way he ended the last one.

His nine assists is the highest by any player since his debut and his 14 goal contributions is evidence of his transformative effects in the team and his impact in the league.

Spurs might have brought in six new players to strengthen their squad but the early signs are it’s the dynamic Swedish midfielder who is steering the Tottenham wheel at the moment.
