Brentford striker Ivan Toney says Harry Kane is one of the best forwards in the game after being called up to the Three Lions squad for the first time.

The Brentford striker has forced his way into the England squad after a brilliant start to the season and profited from the omission of some regulars.

Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho were all left out of the squad with the former receiving treatment for a muscle injury.

Toney has scored five goals in seven Premier League matches, and is playing with so much confidence which has caught the eye of national team handlers.

He admits it’s up to him now to make good use of the opportunity but knows that he will have to let go off penalty duties to Harry Kane who he says is one of the best in the World.

He told reporters ahead of the Nations League game against Italy: “Privilege and obviously like you said it’s massive and I’m playing with big names.

“I’ve got to take it in my stride and hopefully I get some more playing time with them.

“He’s (Harry Kane) done it on a bigger stage so I’d say Harry Kane but yeah this is my opportunity now and I’d take it with both hands.

“I’m excited and also I’m confident about it. I’m very hungry and I’ve been working for this my whole life and I’m not going to let go of me.”

Toney has had a long walk to get to the very top as he was deemed not good enough at Newcastle and he had to go back to the fourth tier of English football to work his way up to the Premier League.

Now he can dream of England and the World Cup if he impresses in the two friendly games against Italy and Germany.
