Antonio Conte provides support to ‘inconsolable’ Richarlison after latest injury blow in 3-3 Southampton draw

Tottenham were deservedly denied all three points at the St Mary’s with a late James Ward-Prowse penalty securing a 3-3 draw for Southampton.

Tottenham striker Richarlison’s wait for his first Premier League goal continued after he was forced off with another injury against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

The Brazilian forward who was just coming into the form was replaced by Dejan Kulusevski in the fourth minute of the game at the St Mary’s in a blow for his club in their pursuit of Champions Leaguefootball next season.

In his absence Tottenham could only manage a point after a pulsating 3-3 draw with relegation threatened Southampton despite being 3-1 ahead at some points.

Former Everton man Richarlison- joined Spurs in a £ 60 million deal in the summer impressed early on especially in the Champions League where he scored two goals against Marseille at the group stage, but he’s since failed to deliver on his potential playing a key role.

Antonio Conte, who is quite desperate to get the Brazilian back to his best, tried to console him as he walked off before admitting that non of his players are playing for the badge.

He told reporters: “They’re used to it here. Don’t play for something important. They don’t want to play under pressure. They don’t want to play under stress.”

“Tottenham’s story is this! 20 years there is the owner & they never won something.”

Tottenham also lost Ben Davies in the first half and will be hoping the Welsh defender often reliable will recover in time for the final push of the season after the international break.

Despite the disappointing draw, Tottenham remain fourth the league table on 47 points, two ahead of fifth-placed Newcastle United who have played two games less.
