Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is hoping young midfielder Oliver Skipp will find some luck and contribute to the team after making progress with his recovery from injury.

The midfielder has barely been in the team due to a hip injury that kept him out towards the end of last season, and a muscle injury he picked when this season started.

Skipp has missed the first two games and won’t be available this weekend, but he has started running and can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Manager Antonio Conte, who admits he needs the midfielder, is praying he finds some form of luck to stay fit this season.

The Spurs boss said: “The other player not available for Wolverhampton is [Oliver] Skipp but good news about him because today or tomorrow he will run again.

This is really good news.”

“I hope this player is a bit lucky because since January he started to have a problem. But I think hopefully he will be ready quickly.

“We need his performance, he’s a really good guy, and for sure he’s suffering a lot to stay outside, but I think for the period where we have to play a lot of games he will be available, which is really good news for us.”

The Lillywhites will hope to return to winning ways this weekend against Wolves after the 2-2 draw with Chelsea, but will have to do without their Italian manager who was red carded against Chelsea and has been charged by the FA.

Wolves beat Tottenham last season but so much has changed for Spurs since with new players- but more importantly a renewed sense of purpose and mental strength that saw them pick up a point against Chelsea against all odds.

Antonio Conte reveals he will remind his players how they were beaten by Wolves last season as part of his team talk before the game.

He added: “Tomorrow I am going to tell the same situation to my players, it is always important to know the recent past.

“In the last game we played at home to Wolves we lost 2-0, after 20 minutes we were 2-0 down and we weren’t good enough to come back.

“ First of all, we are talking about a really good team and a good club, a club that in the last week has signed two important players like Guedes from Valencia and then Nunes from Sporting Lisbon.”
