Millwall’s January signing Aidomo Emakhu has struggled with injury since his switch from Shamrock Rovers and is still waiting for his debut. Boss Gary Rowett has provided this update on his situation, as per the Southwark News: “It’s been a difficult one for Aidomo because he came in, did really well for a couple of weeks. It was just a case of seeing how he adapts to Championship training and let’s see how he adapts to Championship football – there might be an opportunity, at some point, for that to push him into first-team reckoning. He got injured and he’s been injured since.”

Watford new boy Wesley Hoedt has revealed William Troost-Ekong persuaded him to join Slaven Bilic’s side. The former Southampton man signed from Anderlecht last month. He has told the club website: “I spoke to William Troost-Ekong, just after he’d signed for Salernitana on loan. We played together for the Dutch Under-21s, so I know him well.

“I asked him some details, and he was very positive about the move. That helped me make my decision, and I’m delighted to be here now. It’s a great club, and it’s a great opportunity for me.”

Grimsby Town professional development phase coach Callum Lester has labelled defender Mattie Pollock as a ‘warrior’. The youngster has been loaned out to Aberdeen and his former coach believes they have landed a coup, as per The Courier: “Mattie is an old-school warrior type of defender who will be really good asset for Aberdeen. He is a great leader both on the pitch and in the changing room. For someone of such a young age, Mattie is very vocal and has a great winning mentality.”
