It will soon be time for QPR to welcome their next opponents of the season with Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle set to make the trip up to London this Saturday.

The Rs are still seeking their first win of the 2024/25 campaign after losing 3-1 to West Brom in their opening day fixture before fighting back to secure a brave 2-2 draw against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday. However, their late draw against the Blades did not come without consequences as they are now set to face the Pilgrims without two of their stars.

LondonWorld takes a look at the early injury news ahead of QPR’s upcoming clash against Plymouth...

Plymouth Argyle

Rooney is set to be without both Icelandic star Victor Palsson and Nigerian ace Muhamed Tujani with both stars having already missed games this season. While Palsson was able to defend in the opening game against Sheffield Wednesday, he was subsequently out of the side’s Carabao Cup match against Cheltenham as well as their 1-1 draw with Hull City last weekend.

It has now been confirmed that the ex-Eupen right-back will miss a further two games at least after sustaining a hamstring injury. The same has been said of striker Tujani but the Nigerian’s head coach appears more hopeful that he could return sooner than his Icelandic teammate.

Speaking to Plymouth Live, Rooney said: "Victor will be back after the international break, or maybe the game before. He has just had a little issue with his hamstring, and TJ will hopefully try to train on Monday, Tuesday. He has had a knock as well.”

QPR

Marti Cifuentes’s side are set to be without forward Ilias Chair for an extended period of time after the Moroccan international suffered a back injury that has kept him out of action for several games already. Chair, 26, was hailed was ‘terrific’ by his head coach after securing seven goals and eight assists last campaign.

The forward had been involved in pre-season with the London sides but has subsequently been absent from the friendlies against Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton and Reading. As reported by LondonWorld earlier this week, the Rs head coach said of Chair’s injury: “Perhaps we thought it could be less aggressive, but unfortunately it’s a lower back issue that will keep him away for some more weeks.

“I said we were waiting for some tests – and unfortunately the tests showed the development is more or less as we expected. I’m always optimistic and thought it might be a faster process, but the reality is that it’s a bone bruise and it takes time.”

Chair is set to miss out along with Jack Colback after the defensive midfielder was shown a red card during the Rs clash against Sheffield United. Colback, 34, is now set to miss the next two games after the rules dictate a two-match ban for dissent-related red cards. QPR could also remain without Morgan Fox, who has been carrying an injury problem from pre-season preparations, and Lucas Andersen. The Danish playmaker was substituted in the first-half against the Blades after injuring his groin while taking a corner.
