QPR look set to miss out on one of their transfer targets, and to the team they face this weekend.

QPR have suffered a potentially big blow just days before their Championship opener with West Brom this weekend. The Hoops have already had a busy transfer window, snapping up as many as 10 new signings so far, including three paid-ford deals and seven freebies.

Marti Cifuentes has been determined to strengthen his ranks and to put his own stamp on his squad in his first full season in charge. The Hoops will be hoping for better this season after struggling last season and requiring a late push to pull themselves away from the relegation zone.

With pre-season friendlies over and done with, QPR are now just days away from kicking off their new season against play-off hopefuls West Brom, but they will still be working to get more deals over the line. One of those deals was reportedly involving Juventus star Gianluca Frabotta.

The 25-year-old has completed six loan spells during his time with Juve, only ever making 16 league outings for the Old Lady since 2019. Crucially, he also spent time on loan with West Brom in the second half of last season, and he could now be set to return to The Hawthorns.

With QPR reportedly trying to offload Kenneth Paal, West Brom are said to have stepped in to hijack the Frabotta deal, and they are now closing in on a deal. TuttoMercatoWeb say the Baggies are close to a deal, moving ahead of QPR, and Gianluca Di Marzio claim West Brom have offered a three-year deal that outdoes what QPR have offered.

Frabotta is set to leave Juventus on a free transfer, but any purchasing club will have to agree a 20% sell-on fee from any future sale. The left-back’s agent, Francesco Salerno, is said to be in England, and a medical will reportedly take place on Tuesday ahead of Frabotta completing his deal with West Brom.

A bitter blow for QPR who face the Baggies in their season opener this weekend.
