The summer transfer window is now over and done with, and both Millwall and QPR can get on with focusing on their respective seasons, at least until January. QPR proved they were focusing on the right things on Friday night by completing an impressive away comeback win over Luton Town to beat the Hatters for the second time in a week.

Nicolas Madsen and Michael Frey were on target to swing the clash and secure the Hoops’ first three points of the league season. Millwall will take on Sheffield Wednesday at the Den in search of their first league win of the campaign on Saturday. With the window closed, we have rounded up the latest news surrounding the Championship clubs with the dust settling on the transfer action.

Millwall lose key man

Millwall were dealt a huge blow on deadline day with Zian Flemming heading to Burnley. The 26-year-old was the subject of bids from the Clarets after their Premier League promotion more than a year ago, though a deal never materialised.

A year on and Burnley have got their man, agreeing a loan deal with an obligation to buy. The deal will ultimately cost them £7million, with the Lions pocketing a big fee. Though, Neil Harris has voiced concerns about the quality of his squad leading up to deadline day, and he has now lost another key piece, even if a late flurry of deals will have eased fears.

Flemming told the Burnley website upon arrival: “It’s surreal to be here. It’s happened really quickly, I heard about it first yesterday morning and I just wanted to get here. I want to be a Premier League player in a Premier League team and with the aims and ambitions that we have here at the club, we can make that possible.”

QPR land Ashby

QPR completed the loan signing of Newcastle United man Harrison Ashby on deadline day, with the right-back returning to the Championship after a stint with Swansea City last season. He told the club website upon arrival: “There is only one place that I wanted to come and I am really excited for what’s ahead.

“The people I spoke to, and the chats that we had, straight away my head turned.” He added: “A big thing coming on loan is the style of football you are going to play. When you are on loan you want to improve, you want to get better and help the team. The setup here, I can definitely improve my game.”

Leeds confirm late capture

Elsewhere in the Championship, Leeds United wrapped up a last-minute deal to sign FC St Gallen star Isaac Schmidt. The Whites are said to have paid £3.3million to seal the deal for the 24-year-old Swiss full-back.

He told Sky Sports News of the move: “They can expect that I will give everything, every time. I will give my best in training, in the games, I will be professional.”
