A look at some of the soon to be free agents QPR and Millwall might be able to sign this summer.

QPR and Millwall will already have an eye on their summer preparations, with both clubs likely to be playing Championship football next season. Marti Cifuentes will want to improve significantly on his side’s efforts after a frustrating run coming out of the winter, while Alex Neil has already managed significant improvement during his time with the Lions so far, and he will be looking forward to his first summer in charge.

As ever, there will be plenty of turnover at Championship clubs this summer, and there will be plenty of players available on free transfers. Here we look at some of the Championship players QPR and Millwall may be able to sign for free this summer.

Grady Diangana

The 26-year-old is out of contract at West Brom this summer, and he will be a sought-after player on a free transfer. Diangana has made 30 appearances across all competitions this season, playing a key role in the Baggies’ playoff push. Diangana has scored four times and assisted twice so far this season.

Freddie Woodman

Woodman’s contract expires this summer, and he could be a solid option for a number of clubs having been a regular for Preston, making 44 appearances across all competitions this season. Woodman has managed 17 clean sheets this season, and he will be a solid free agent signing at the age of 28.

Rhian Brewster

The 25-year-old forward has made 30 Championship appearances for Sheffield United this season, aiding their automatic promotion push. Brewster has scored only four times in the league, also providing three assists. He will have wanted better production, and the Blades may think carefully about offering a new contract this summer.

John Swift

Swift’s deal is up this summer, and he will be an attractive option for many clubs, 29 years of age and with plenty of experience under his belt. Swift has made 34 league appearances this season, scoring three times and providing one assist.

Matt Clarke

The 28-year-old centre-back has been a regular in a struggling Derby side this season, making 23 league appearances and contributing three goals from the back. Clarke is an experienced player having previously been at Brighton and Middlesbrough, and he should have a Championship future regardless of whether Derby get relegated or not.

Nathan Redmond

Redmond could yet be kept on, with Burnley holding a one-year extension option, with the winger 31 years of age, Burnley could decide not to renew the deal, especially if they win promotion to the Premier League. Redmond has been injured all season, suffering from hamstring and calf issues, so there is an element of risk to this deal, but he is an experienced player who may be able to offer something on a cheaper contract.

Harry Darling

Swansea City are still hoping to keep Darling, who is out of contract this summer, with contract talks ongoing. If Darling does become available, he will likely get another Championship club having been a regular for the Swans over the last three years. Darling is still only 25 years of age.
