8 soon-to-be Championship free agents Millwall and QPR could sign for nothing this summer

Millwall and QPR will already be working towards next season with the 2024/25 Championship campaign still fresh in their memory. The Lions fell just short of a top six finish this season, and they will want to go one better next time around as Alex Neil enters his first full season in charge.
As for QPR, they face a more uncertain future having placed Mart Cifuentes on gardening leave. One way or another, we are likely to see significant squad changes at Loftus Road this summer, with a new manager likely to want to put his own stamp on the squad. With all that in mind, we have rounded up some of the best soon-to-be Championship free agents ahead of the summer.

Dolan has become one of Blackburn Rovers’ most valuable players, but he is out of contract at the end of this season. A recent report from The Lancashire Telegraph has suggested that the winger is still open to staying, but he could depart amid reported interest from Middlesbrough and others. It’s claimed Dolan will make his decision after going on holiday with his family.
Grady Diangana
Diangana is out of contract at West Brom, and with the Baggies searching for a new boss, the winger may feel he is better of signing with a club with a clearer project. He is 27 years of age and a high-level Championship winger.
Freddie Woodman
The Preston goalkeeper has established himself as a more than competent starting Championship goalkeeper, and it looks as though he could be on the move this summer. He has been linked with the Premier League, but he could be tempted by the right Championship opportunity.
John Swift
It was reported back in March that West Brom had not advanced contract discussions with Swift, and it looks as though he could leave the Baggies. The 29-year-old is a real weapon at Championship level, best operating in an attacking midfield role, and for free, he would be some signing.

Hide AdNathan Redmond
Redmond is out of contract at Burnley after this season, and at 31 years of age, and with the Clarets likely to strengthen, he is likely to depart. Millwall or QPR could do with his experience, and he would surely be a fine addition both on and off the pitch.
Matt Clarke
The Derby County centre-back returned to the club in January, and he could be available this summer as his short-term deal expires. The 28-year-old made 30 league appearances for Derby to help keep them in the Championship, and he would add competition to either of Millwall or QPR’s back lines.
Harry Darling
Another centre-back, Darling has been a regular for Swansea City, racking up 39 league appearances. Darling is 25 years of age and he is a player who has big potential. If Swansea can’t tie him down, he will surely become a starter elsewhere this summer.
Yakou Meite
Meite is out of contract at Cardiff City, who have been relegated to League One, likely making him available. The experienced forward would not likely be a starter for Millwall or QPR, but he is a very good plan B forward. He is a hard-worker, and he is able to play as a striker or a winger.
