FA set to investigate press box ‘slap’ between Arsenal and Aston Villa analysts

The FA is investigating an altercation between Aston Villa and Arsenal analysts in the press box at Villa Park on Saturday.

It is understood that Arsenal analyst Miguel Molina and Villa's Victor Manas clashed after Emi Martinez's stoppage time own goal, where Villa staff in the press boxx took exception to the Arsenal celebrations.

Molina reportedly left the dressing room after the game with a red mark on his face after allegedly being ‘slapped’ by his compatriot Manas, with further words exchanged in the tunnel before the two were pulled apart.

Manas previously worked at Arsenal under former head coach Unai Emery during his period in charge at the club.

“Like anything that happens in the stands, we will look at it, address it and take action if it’s necessary,” said Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta after the game.

Arteta’s side won the match 4-2 thanks with substitute Gabriel Martinelli adding the final goal in a crucial victory.

The Gunners are currently two points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand over second-placed Manchester City, who drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
