Crystal Palace proved once again that games against Brighton and Hove Albion don’t follow the form book with a spirited 1-1 draw at Selhurst in the Premier League.

James Tomkins- a late call to start following a back injury to Chris Richards punished a mistake from Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Robert Sanchez after Solly March had given the visitors the lead six minutes earlier.

The Eagles will see this game as proof that they are capable of competing with the best teams in the league with Brighton just four points behind fourth placed Tottenham in the Premier League.

Astonishingly the Seagulls had come into the game 10 points better and six places above Patrick Vieira side-but apart from the first 15 minutes and the last 10, the Eagles held their own and were a match for their in-form visitors.

The draw though means Brighton have now gone seven games without a defeat in the league, a smashing impressive record given they had their entire coaching staff cleaned out by Chelsea earlier in the campaign.

For Palace, it was another point in the right direction especially with the resilience and fight they put up against a Brighton side who were widely tipped to win. The likes of captain Marc Guehi, Jordan Ayew and James Tomkins were absolutely hustling for every ball and their efforts help bag the point on the day.
