Newcastle have been handed a boost in their potential January pursuit of Crystal Palace star and long-term target Marc Guehi.
During the recently closed transfer window, Eddie Howe’s side had four bids for the central defender rejected, including one bid worth £65m, as they all came under Palace’s £70 million valuation for the 24-year-old.

However, the Selhurst Park chief Steve Parish’s latest comments could hand the Magpies a potential boost ahead of the January transfer window by claiming that Crystal Palace would be willing to sell to the likes of Newcastle and other clubs with Champions League aspirations
Speaking to Sky Sports, Parish left the door open for a potential deal with the Tyneside club but claimed he is adamant that “the club comes first”.
The director said: “We want to be selling to the top clubs or to clubs like Newcastle who have got great aspirations and have recently been in the Champions League so we have to manage all of those things.”

He has played every minute of the new season under Glasner so far, maintaining his famous professional manner throughout the process and has been rewarded for his efforts by being named the Eagles club captain for the current season, replacing Joel Ward in the role. It was revealed earlier this week that contract extension talks were also due to take place shortly between the England Euros star with the defender’s current deal set to run out next summer
Newcastle, on the other hand, endured a somewhat disappointing transfer window as they failed to bring in a central defender beyond the free transfer of Lloyd Kelly. Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman are also now out of action after suffering Cruciate ligament injuries.
