Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira is hoping Selhurst Park will give his team the helping hand they need when they take on title-chasing Manchester City this weekend.

The Eagles haven’t beaten City at home in seven attempts and have failed to score in five of those seven games even though they did draw with Pep Guardiola’s side the last time they visited Selhurst.

Patrick Vieira’s side are also still searching for their first league win of the year 2023- but can be encouraged by their home performance against Manchester United, Newcastle and Brghton recently.

The south London club also have top-scorer Wilfried Zaha back in full swing after his performance in the narrow defeat to Aston Villa over the weekend.

Selhurst has a reputation for being one of the best atmospheres in the country, but can be quite toxic when things are not going to plan, but Vieira who admits they have the best fanbase in the country has no doubts the fans will get behind them when the going gets tough.

He told:reporters ahead of the game “Yeah I’d I say to you the fans always responds to us when we play at home and let me add that we had a bad home game against Fulham sometime and they stayed with us through it all.

“The last time we played City at home they helped and we got the point, I dont have any doubts that they will be there for us. It up to us to give them what they want because they have always been there for us.”

Crystal Palace have recorded just six wins all season but are 12th on the league table- five points better off Everton in 18th place.

While Manchester City second on 58 points and can squeeze the gap on first place Arsenal to just two ahead of their visit to an in-form Fulham side on Sunday.
