Crystal Palace face Premier League rivals Liverpool on Friday afternoon as they take the next step in the preparations for the new season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side kicked off their pre-season schedule with a disjointed display in a 4-0 defeat against Manchester United earlier this week as goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri gave the Red Devils a comfortable win.

But the early games of pre-season are all about fitness and that is why Reds manager Klopp will hope to get more minutes into his squad when they face the Eagles in Singapore.

Palace’s pre-season has begun with a 1-1 draw against Accrington Stanley and a 5-4 win against Millwall - and there is no doubt they will face a step up in class when they face Klopp’s side on Friday.

Where and when does the match take place?

The game will take place at the Singapore National Stadium in Kallang on Friday 15th July.

Kick-off is at 1.35pm UK time, which is an 8.35pm kick-off local time.

What have Patrick Vieira and Jurgen Klopp said about the game?

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Reds boss Klopp said: “Some might get 45 minutes tomorrow, we have to see.

“But again it’s the period of the year where we have to be really careful with different things.

“These are our footballers, these are the only boys we have.

“We have a lot of them but these are the only ones we have so we have to take care and we bring them in the best possible situation.”

Palace manager Vieira is expecting a tough test against a Liverpool side he believes will challenge on all fronts during the coming season.

He said: “There is no easy game against Liverpool. We are facing a team that will be there at the top to challenge for the title, and will be there to challenge for winning the Champions League. It’s preparation that will give us, and me as a manager, an idea about where we are. It’s really good game preparation for us.

“We know how difficult and challenging that game will be, but we are in preparations and we will learn a lot tomorrow about where we are, and which part of the game we will need to focus on. The objective is to be ready for the first game of the season.”

Who will feature in the game?

Vieira has suggested he will take the game seriously but has also revealed several of Palace’s younger players may get an opportunity to face last season’s Champions League finalists.

He said: “We bring some young players and that will be a really good experience. Some of them are travelling that far for the first time.

“How are they going to deal with that experience? The flight, the time difference. Those kinds of experiences will tell us a lot about those players.”

Klopp chose to select three different lineups during their opening pre-season fixture against Manchester United and it would not be a surprise to see a similar decision made against Palace.

The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Fabinho could all come into contention for a starting place but Diogo Jota is unlikely to feature due to a hamstring injury.
