Crystal Palace’s expected starting XI against Manchester City - with two changes and Mateta decision

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has a big decision to make on who starts upfront against Manchester City.

Crystal Palace will host the Premier League champions Manchester City at Selhurst Park under the lights, with hopes of continuing their recent fine form and climbing high in the table.

Patrick Vieira’s side have stumbled into some form, winning three of their last four games and are currently 11th in the Premier League.

However Manchester City will offer a different challenge to the Eagles, with Pep Guardiola’s men arriving knowing there are just three points between them and second-placed Liverpool who beat Brighton Hove and Albion on Saturday.

Palace will have to dig deep if they are to get something from the game and stop City’s march to the Premier League title.

On facing Manchester City, a club he used to play and work for, Patrick Vieira said: “Anything can happen in our game of football.

“It’s just about us believing that we can do it, going on the field and knowing how good that team is and just working hard for it.

“And of course, we know that they have really good individuals, we know that they are really strong collectively too, we know that they are one of the best teams in Europe.

“And yes, we will have to perform well to take something from that game. We did it away from home and why can’t we do it at home? It will be challenging, it will be difficult, yes. But we will be up for it.”

To beat Manchester City you have to be prepared to suffer and Vieira will hope to pick a team that can press and sustain pressure, so with all that in mind, here is the team the Crystal Palace boss is likely to pick against the high-flying visitors.
