Everton are reportedly interested in a loan deal for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Phillipe Mateta. The Frenchman is facing an uncertain future at Selhurst Park with the January transfer window coming to an end on Tuesday.

According to reporter Alan Nixon on Patreon, the Toffees are eyeing a potential swoop for him before the deadline. However, they aren’t the only club in the frame for his signature though with Marseille and Celta Vigo also credited with an interest.

Crystal Palace have a decision to make on what to do with the attacker. He provides competition and depth to their options up top and has made 19 appearances so far this season. He has only chipped in with a single goal this term under Patrick Viera.

Mateta joined the London club back in 2020 on an initial loan deal from Mainz before his switch was permanent afterwards. The former Lyon man has since scored nine times in 52 outings.

Everton need to bolster their ranks and their new boss Sean Dyche could see him as someone to sharpen his attacking department. The Merseyside outfit are currently joint-bottom of the league with Southampton.

In other news, Crystal Palace youngster John Kymani-Gordon scored again for loan club Carlisle United this weekend. They beat Rochdale 1-0 away.
