Graham Potter is in desperate need of some positivity and the training ground at Cobham looks to be providing him that at the moment with players returning to fitness and the board backing him.

The under-fire Chelsea manager has just two wins from his last 14 games in all competition but still retains the unflinching support of the board. The fans though, are turning on him as they want to see signs of a team that is fighting for titles or at least capable of fighting.

The game against rivals Tottenham provides the English manager the opportunity to quieten some of the noise around his team’s performance and he’s been boosted with the return of N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic to training this week.

Kante hasn’t played since the 2-2 draw with Tottenham last year but is making progress and is also likely to extend his contract at the club having made progress in talks recently.

Also back in training is Christian Pulisic who hasn’t played since the Manchester City game earlier in the year- since his injury- Chelsea have brought in the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Joao Felix to fill the void and provide more bite.

These days Chelsea just never lose to Tottenham so it will be interesting to see how they perform against Spurs this weekend under Potter.

The Blues go into the game looking to become just the third team to win four consecutive away league games against Tottenham after Arsenal (four between 1952-1955) and Manchester United (six between 2001-2007).

But having failed to beat Fulham, West Ham and Southampton in their last three league games, they have never gone into the derby with their stocks this low.
