This morning's Chelsea and Tottenham news as Blues handed injury boost and Spurs 'reach agreement'
The international break has now taken centre stage with Chelsea and Tottenham already seeing their respective campaigns put on pause at this early stage. Both teams will have hoped for a better points return from their first three games, each picking up four points so far.
Though, we are still early in the campaign and it’s always going to take time for new signings - and in Chelsea’s case a new manager - to settle in. Here we round up the early news surrounding both clubs on Wednesday, September 4.

Chelsea are said to have been handed a big fitness boost with the likely return of Romeo Lavia over the course of the international break. According to The Telegraph, the midfielder is returning to training this week, working towards a return on the other side of the break.
The Blues face Bournemouth away from home when they return, and Lavia is said to be lining up a return in that game, although Chelsea will likely have to build up his match fitness. When asked recently about Lavia’s injury setback, Enzo Maresca replied: “Hopefully nothing too serious.” That prediction looks set to be pretty accurate.
Spurs ‘reach agreement’
Tottenham are said to have struck a deal with Westerlo to loan out young talent Alfie Devine. According to Gazet van Antwerpen, the Belgian club have ‘reached an agreement’ with Spurs over a loan deal that will cover the entirity of this season.
Devine remains under contract at Tottenham until 2027 and he will now depart on loan again having spent time with Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle last term. Tottenham will want to see the 20-year-old midfielder take a real step forward this season, expecting him to make a push for the first team squad in the not too distant future. Players who don’t find themselves knocking on the door in their very early 20s tend to be sold, so this could be a big year for Devine.
