The £18m Premier League striker set to kickstart Chelsea's busy summer transfer window

Chelsea will be busy in the summer transfer window again with players likely to leave and fresh faces coming in.

Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has been fueling speculation of a Chelsea move this summer by engaging with social media posts of the Blues to suggest his admiration for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The 20-year-old, who signed in January 2023, has been consigned to a bit-part role in Unai Emery's squad this season. He‘s been involved in 27 top-flight squads this year, making 20 appearances as a substitute and a measly two in the starting line-up.

One of the reasons why he’s not played so much is the form of Ollie Watkins who is one of the top performers in the league this season. But Duran proved his lethal touch with two quick goals to help Villa to an amazing 3-3 draw against Liverpool last week.

Chelsea are likely to be on the search for another striker who can come in and give competition to Nicolas Jackson who has been the club’s only out-and-out striker this season.

Duran appears to be somewhat of a fan of the London club. It has been spotted in recent days that the Colombian has been interacting with Blues' social media posts on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Before joining Villa in January 2023, Chelsea were reportedly interested in him and even sent scouts to monitor him when he was still playing for Chicago Fire. Emery made him his second signing in a deal worth £18million when he took over the club and Chelsea might have to play around £30million if they are to secure his services, LondonWorld has been exclusively told.

Strong end to the season

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are now in pole position to finish sixth in the league having won four consecutive games for the first time in two years. They have players returning from injury even though they will be without captain Reece James who was sent off at the Amex.

Mykhailo Mudryk is also ruled out of the game after suffering a head injury in the 2-1 win that saw them move from seventh in the league to sixth thanks a to win against Brighton and Newcastle’s defeat to Manchester United.
