Romeo Lavia injury update as Chelsea suffer double blow despite impressive win at the Molineux
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca enjoyed a memorable away visit to Molineux, with his team turning on the style in an impressive 6-2 win over Wolves. This was Chelsea's first Premier League victory of the season, building on their win against Servette in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
The day did not start well, as midfielder Romeo Lavia was left behind in London after suffering what was described as a minor hamstring injury that the club did not want to risk. His absence meant that Cole Palmer played more centrally from the start, and he ended up scoring his first goal of the season while providing three assists.

Hide AdSpeaking after the game, the Chelsea manager said: “We had to leave him behind because he suffered a minor hamstring injury, but hopefully, it’s nothing too serious.” Lavia himself took to social media, saying: “I will be back very soon. Nothing to worry about—it’s going to be a long and exciting season for us Blues.”
The second setback came when Moises Caicedo was forced off in the second half after a heavy challenge from Yerson Mosquera. Although he was able to get back on his feet and left the pitch unaided, he will be assessed before the team flies out to Switzerland for the second leg of their Conference League playoff game.
Caicedo was replaced by Pedro Neto, who seized the opportunity to provide his first assist for Chelsea, setting up Joao Felix for a casual finish to secure the 6-2 win.
This has been a positive week for Chelsea, who have now recorded back-to-back wins and are generally heading in the right direction under their new boss. They will now hope to offload some players before the transfer window closes, as they look to trim the squad and generate competition that will help the team fight for a spot in Europe at the very least.
