Chelsea have also responded to all the ups and downs of the Graham Potter era by sacking the former Brighton boss and replacing him with Bruno Saltor for the remaining 10 games of the season.

Klopp asked if he’d be able to get some players back to help with the push for a Champions League spot this evening, the German admitted the game was too soon for some of his injured stars even though he can feel they want to help.

He said: “Games like this have an impact, you might lose even more confidence but the desire to show a reaction is there as well.

“The boys want to show a reaction, but the short turnaround is the problem. At this moment I have no clue who I can line up with, because I got this information after the press conference.

“We want to wait with these decisions as long as possible and give the boys as much time to recover. There will be changes, definitely, there have to be and we have to use them.”

Klopp also revealed Luiz Diaz, who has been layed-off for a while due to a knee injury was back in training even if he would not be involved in the game tonight.

He added: “As much as we want him to be back, we still have to give him time. Obviously it was long ago he had the initial injury

“But when he came back to training in Dubai he looked outstanding, until he got injured again. So we have to make sure that we are patient.”

Chelsea will also hope to have forward Raheem Sterling back for the first time in three games with the forward back in training.
