Chelsea continue to be linked with a move for Victor Osimhen, but a transfer is far from guaranteed.

Chelsea’s striker plan may not be as clear as some believe, with the Blues having pushed to sign Victor Osimhen at the back end of the summer transfer window. Chelsea’s attempts came up short, with Osimhen ultimately joining Galatasaray on loan after Al-Ahli signed Ivan Toney instead and the Blues failed to meet his wage demands.

With Napoli already having replaced Osimhen with Romelu Lukaku, they sent him on loan to Turkiye, one of the few countries whose transfer window remained open after the end of August. Though, the loan deal is said to include a clause that would allow Osimhen to leave should a top European club express an interest.

With that in mind, it has been suggested that Chelsea are the most likely club to enter the market come January in a bid to break the Galatasaray loan deal. But the situation may have been complicated by the form of the Blues and their key players over recent weeks.

Cole Palmer has racked up six goal so far this season, with four of those coming in one game over the weekend, while Nicolas Jackson has four. The Chelsea front line is humming currently, with Enzo Maresca’s men winning all of their last four games across all competitions.

It’s for that reason Chelsea may be reconsidering their plan to sign Osimhen, something Fabrizio Romano has recently claimed while giving an update on the club’s plans for January.

Speaking on The Debrief, the ‘transfer expert’ said: “In January, I don’t think it’s guaranteed. In this moment, Chelsea are very happy with what they see, very happy also with the balance they see in the dressing room, also in terms of relationships, then the performances on the pitch have been excellent so far. So in this moment, Chelsea are not desperate to bring in a new striker in January.”
