Chelsea sign £63m striker alongside three more signings as two players depart Blues - AI predicts transfers

Chelsea are yet to make a move in the January transfer window, however, considering how active they were in summer, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see several moves both in and out this month. The Blues added 11 new players in the last transfer window, strengthening Enzo Maresca’s squad to a point where they’ve had an impressive start to life under the former Leicester City manager.
Chelsea sit fourth in the Premier League table, 10 points behind league leaders Liverpool, who also have a game in hand on the Blues. They won 5-0 in their last match in the FA Cup against League Two side Morecambe, but are winless in their last four Premier League matches. They play against Bournemouth next on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.

AI predicts Chelsea’s January departures
Marc Cucurella - Chelsea to La Liga side or mid-table Premier League team
Firstly, AI suggested that defender Marc Cucurella could leave during the January window in what would be a surprise move for the Blues to make. The full-back has made 18 Premier League appearances this season, remaining a big part of Maresca’s plans. He has not been linked over a move away this month. He joined in August 2022 for an initial fee of £55m from Brighton, but AI thinks that Chelsea will sell him either to a La Liga team, or mid-table Premier League side due to his inconsistency for the Blues this year.
Carney Chukwuemeka - Chelsea to Borussia Dortmund (Loan)
A more realistic January transfer, as AI also predicted that Chelsea will loan out Chukwuemeka to Dortmund this window, a move that has been touted already. The midfielder has been linked over a move to the Bundesliga side, with Chelsea already agreeing that the 21-year-old can leave on a loan move in January should he want to. Suggestions have been made that the two clubs could make a swap deal, as the Blues are said to be interested in Dortmund winger, and England U21s star Jamie Gittens.

Youssouf Fofana - AC Milan to Chelsea

Hide AdThe first incoming that AI predicted, is Milan midfielder Youssouf Fofana, who Chelsea have been linked with in recent months. It could be a tricky deal to pull off however, as Fofana only moved to the San Siro in the summer transfer window for a fee of £17m, meaning that AC Milan could be reluctant to sell him so soon. Fofana plays as a defensive midfielder, and has made a total of 26 appearances for Milan since joining in the summer. He has scored one goal, and contributed six assists so far, establishing himself as a top player for the Italian side.
Victor Osimhen - Napoli to Chelsea
AI also predicted that Chelsea finally get a deal for Osimhen over the line in January, after being linked with him for several months from the summer window. Osimhen is currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray, however, if the Blues were to agree a fee with Napoli, the loan move could be cut short for the Nigeria international and he could finally get his move to the Premier League. The 26-year-old has been linked to both Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United with it looking more and more likely that the striker will move to the Premier League during the summer window after his loan move to Turkey ends.
Nico Williams - Athletic Bilbao to Chelsea
Bilbao winger Williams has a £48m release clause which means he could leave in January without opposition from the Spanish club. Arsenal are said to be interested in signing him this month as a replacement for Bukayo Saka, who is injured. If Chelsea were to land the Spain international, they would likely not look to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal in the summer after his loan deal expires, both due to financial concerns, and the lack of need of a winger.
Tomas Araujo - Benfica to Chelsea
Finally, AI predicted that Chelsea will sign Araujo, who has been linked over a move to Stamford Bridge for several months. The 22-year-old has signed a new contract at Benfica, but it isn’t all bad news, as the deal has added a £66m release clause, meaning that Chelsea could sign him without opposition from the Portuguese club. He would help to fill the void that has been left by the injured Wesley Fofana, who will likely be out for the remainder of the season.
