The 47-year-old has left Brighton and Hove Albion to take over at Stamford Bridge.

Potter wasn’t the only option?

The Premier League side are believed to have looked at Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim as well as Potter.

The 37-year-old has impressed in the Portuguese top flight over the past couple of years and is a bright young coach.

According to Record (via Sport Witness) owner Todd Boehly contacted his agent over a potential move but was knocked back.

Chelsea will apparently make another attempt to sign RB Leipzig’s big-money defender Josko Gvardiol in January.

The London club tried to land him in the past summer transfer window but were unsuccessful.

Reporter Fabrizio Romano claims they will ‘try’ again for his signature, as per Christian Falk’s Twitter account (see below):

The Red Devils turned to Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis before getting Erik ten Hag from Ajax over the summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the new Chelsea boss was on their ‘shortlist’ but the Red Devils felt that he didn’t have enough Champions League experience, so decided not to pursue a move for him.
