Chelsea made a winning return to Premier League action with a 2-0 win over Bournemouth. Goals from Kai Havertz and Mason Mount sealed the win, their first in six and condemned the Cherries to another defeat on the road.

Raheem Sterling who has scored nine in his last 10 meetings against Bournemouth will also be delighted that he got an assist even though he could have had more if his finishing did not desert him at crucial points in the game.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter will also be delighted with the win even though there is clearly still work to be done if they are to go on a good run. There will be concerns over the injury to defender Reece James, who had to be replaced in the second half.
