Chelsea player ratings and gallery: three 8/10s and plenty 7/10s in AC Milan win

Chelsea produced their most convincing display since Graham Potter took over to beat AC Milan at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s Champions League campaign finally took off after a 3-0 deserved win over Italian side AC Milan at Stamford Bridge.

Milan started the game impressively but Chelsea eventually overpowered their visitors and a goal from defender Wesley Fofana set them on their way before the young defender got injured.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then got the second goal after a brilliant cross from Reece James who looked unbeatable in the second half.

The English full-back will go from proving an assist to scoring the third goal in minutes after receiving a lay-off from Raheem Sterling and firing in the third for his side to complete a remarkable day in the office.

Milan had come into the game as an in-form side, but they barely laid a glove on Chelsea who dominated possession and created chance after chance in the game.

Manager Graham Potter who has replaced Thomas Tuchel saw his team keep a clean sheet for the first time since he took over and it’s Chelsea first clean sheet since the opening day of the season at Everton.

The Chelsea manager then made a host of changes to the team as they were leading with the introduction of Conor Gallagher, Jorginho and Armando Broja as Potter continued to fine tune his squad.

Perhaps the only downside to the day was the injury to Wesley Fofana who picked up what looked like a knee injury. Chelsea now go second in group E, one place above Milan who go to third while Salzburg sit top of the table.

Here is how we rated every player on the day.
