Chelsea have Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all back in contention after they were left out of the 1-0 Champions League defeat to Dortmund in midweek.

Chelsea will hope they win this one after they lost the reverse fixture 2-1 and will now look to avoid back-to-back Premier League defeats to the Saint for the first time since 1993.

Pressure is mounting on Graham Potter who has had only two wins in his last 13 games in all competitions and is running out of games and points to get the Blues back to at least competing for a top four finish this season.

The Saints arrive at Stamford Bridge with interim manager Ruben Selles determined to stake a claim for the role permanently after the club attempted and failed to lure former Leeds man Jesse Marsch.

There is an aura of uncertainty around Stamford Bridge these days but the last two games have shown glimpses of improvement with the Blues quite unlucky not to have picked up all three points against West Ham in the league and Dortmund in Europe.

Chelsea are currently 10th on the Premier League table, and 10 points behind fourth placed Newcastle United while Southampton are bottom of the table and four points from safety. The saints haven’t won a league game since Bonfire night.

Chelsea though could jump to eighth on the league table if they can get all three points and manager Potter definitely needs some victory to go with the recent improved performances.
