Chelsea closing in on seventh summer signing as talks continue with star Unai Emery gave debut to
Chelsea are getting close to opening their wallet again after talks with Villarreal rapidly progressed for 22-year-old goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen. The Blues have been on the market for a goalkeeper who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and ready to challenge Robert Sanchez for the number one spot next season.
New manager Enzo Maresca has made it clear to his bosses that he wants competition in that area but refused to be drawn into confirming if a deal had been agreed for Jorgensen after the 2-2 draw with Wrexham.

Hide AdMaresca told the BBC when asked about interest in the Danish shot-stopper: "When the transfer window is open, anything can happen - for us and for the rest. For sure, the way we want to play, the goalkeeper is very, very important - one of the main positions. And I don't want to talk about players that are not Chelsea players, but I am very happy with Robert."

At club level, after rising through the ranks, Jorgensen was given his senior Villarreal debut by Unai Emery in December 2021. Last season, he was their first-choice goalkeeper, starting 36 of Villarreal’s 38 league games.
Chelsea Signings So Far
In a summer that has felt a bit underwhelming, Chelsea have already confirmed the signings of Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Caleb Wiley, Renato Veiga, Omari Kellyman, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. LondonWorld has been told the club has taken on board all the reservations about their transfer policies but is determined to get it right with the signing of youngsters who they believe will soon be at the peak of their powers.
