Chelsea have agreed to pay Wesley Fofana £200,000-a-week wages, if they can agree a fee with Leicester for the highly-rated French star.

The 21-year-defender has been on the list of the Blues after they lost out on Matthijs de Ligt to Bayern Munich and Jules Koundé to Barcelona.

LondonWorld understands that Fofana is desperate to move to Chelsea, where he feels his career will develop into one of the best in the world.

But Leicester are standing firm, having since turned down several offers from the London-based club.

The Foxes value the defender around £85million, while Chelsea have been offering around £60m - a huge difference as things stand.

Fofana spent the most of last season out due to injury and signed a five-year contract at the club as security on return.

That extension has left Leicester in a strong position when it comes to sales and negotiations.

The Blues have already signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli to plug the gap that was created by the departure of Antonio Rudiger, who moved to Madrid, but there is still the need to do the same for Andreas Christensen, who joined Barcelona.

Thomas Tuchel has been left slightly disappointed with the way the transfer window has gone, even though he has been given Raheem Sterling, one of the highest scorers in the Premier League, to help with the goals after Romelu Lukaku left the club.

In his maiden season in Leicestershire, Fofana established himself as a key part of Rodgers’ side, making 28 appearances in the Premier League as the Foxes narrowly missed out on Champions League football.

He is able to play across the central defence and his age makes him one of the present and future of the Blues can sign him.
