Charlton Athletic opening day rivals complete ‘fantastic’ transfer
Charlton Athletic will make the long trip to Wigan Athletic on the opening day of the League One season. The two sides were separated by four places and nine points last time out with the Addicks beating the Latics on the road last October before drawing at The Valley in April.
Nathan Jones' side has been proactive in the transfer window thus far but so have Wigan, with the club this week announcing a major coup ahead of that opening day clash with Charlton.
The Latics have completed the signing of defender Will Aimson from Exeter City for an undisclosed fee with the 30-year-old signing a two-year deal. The centre-back becomes Shaun Maloney's fourth signing of the summer after Dion Rankine and loanees Calvin Ramsay and Michael Olakigbe.

“I have been a long-term admirer of Will, who I know will bring a lot of leadership to our young squad. I am looking forward to working with Will during pre-season and beyond.”
Bolton Wanderers eye double transfer swoop
Elsewhere in London, Leyton Orient will begin their League One campaign with the visit of Bolton Wanderers. The Trotters will be focused on promotion this season having placed third last time out but suffered defeat to Oxford United in the play-off final.

Bolton could arrive at the Gaughan Group Stadium with new additions to their forward options, according to The Bolton News. The club are looking at deals to sign Luton Town forward John McAtee as well as Stade Brestois attacking midfielder Karamoko Dembele, the former spent last season on loan at Barnsley with the latter having impressed on loan at Blackpool.
