'Deal done' - Charlton Athletic beat Aberdeen and Hibs to 'hungry' Championship star
Charlton Athletic are poised to beat Scottish clubs Aberdeen and Hibernian to the signing of Allan Campbell from Championship outfit Luton Town this summer.
Nathan Jones has already poached his former club for midfielder Luke Berry during the window, the 32-year-old swapping the Premier League last season for League One this time out. He is now set to be joined by fellow Hatters midfielder Campbell.

The outlet adds that clubs 'across England and Scotland' had been trying to sign Campbell with Aberdeen and Hibs named as two particularly keen suitors. The player has a Scotland cap to his name and came through the Motherwell youth academy before breaking through into the first team at Fir Park before joining Luton Town in 2021.
The midfielder played a key part in the Hatters' promotion to the Premier League during the 2022/23 season but fell down the pecking order as Ross Barkley and Albert Sambi Lokonga came in. The signings of Shandon Baptiste, Liam Walsh and Tom Krauss have added further competition this summer.
Campbell made just 12 appearances for the Lions last season as an achilles tendon issue picked up in December ravaged his season, along with a back problem towards the end of the campaign.
