Charlton Athletic have seen one defender leave and one come in during the final hours of the January transfer window.

Charlton Athletic are one of several League One clubs leaving it late to confirm deals on Deadline Day with the transfer window now shut for League One clubs.

The sides in the EFL are not afforded the luxury of a deal sheet, which can help Premier League sides finalise paperwork following the close of the window. However, clubs can of course choose when to confirm their last minute arrivals.

The Addicks have announced that Portsmouth defender Tom McIntyre has arrived on loan from Portsmouth for the rest of the season. The former Reading man is a versatile addition to the backline, capable of playing across the back four and in midfield.

Charlton Athletic sign Championship defender

McIntyre became the second Charlton Athletic Deadline Day signing following the arrival of Alex Gilbert. Addicks manager Nathan Jones told the club website: "Tom is a centre-half with a load of experience. He got in the Reading side as a young player and has played in the Championship for the majority of his career.

“He’s a real good footballing centre-half, one that can develop play for us and one that has real good experience and pedigree for his age. We’ve been able to strengthen and add a bit more balance to our defence with him being left-footed."

McIntyre, who has made 12 Championship appearances for Pompey this term, added: "It’s a brilliant feeling. It’s been a late one, one that was really appealing to me. As soon as I heard that there was a bit of interest from Charlton, I was really excited to get it done."

Leyton Orient poach London rivals

The Addicks' League One and London rivals are another to confirm a late transfer, having poached a defender from The Valley in a head-turning signing given the fact that the two outfits are both vying for a play-off spot.

The O's have signed Rarmani Edmonds-Green on a two-and-a-half year contract. The former Huddersfield Town man has also spent time at Rotherham United and Wigan Athletic, but has struggled for minutes this season at The Valley.

The player told the Leyton Orient website: "I have worked with the manager before, so I know what he wants on the football side of things.

"We got promoted together before, and we get along really well. I can't wait to get started, to meet the lads and get going. I've played against the side already this season for Charlton and the football that was played was great."

Birmingham City confirm third January signing

Birmingham City are favourites to win League One this season after a summer of heavy investment following their relegation from the Championship. Chris Davies' side have also been busy on Deadline Day and announced the signing of Myung-Jae Lee.

The 31-year-old joins on a short term deal until the end of the season to help with the Blues' promotion push. He most recently spent time at K-League side Ulsan HD. The South Korean international is the club's third signing of the window, following the arrivals of Grant Hanley and Kieran Dowell.

Birmingham City are four points clear at the top of the table with two games in hand on second-placed Wycombe Wanderers.
