Brentford’s Director of Football Phil Giles will be keeping a close eye on how Charlie Goode gets on out on loan at Blackpool. The Bees gave the defender the green light to head back into the Championship on a deal until the end of the season.

He had a spell at Sheffield United in the last campaign but managed just two appearances for the Blades. The former Northampton Town man has struggled with injuries since moving to the Gtech Community Stadium back in 2020 and has been loaned to Bloomfield Road to get regular minutes under his belt.

Giles has told Brentford’s official club website: “I keep on telling him whenever I see him that he’s the most unlucky player I’ve ever met in terms of his injury record since he came to the club. He’s never really got proper games to see what he can do.

“He needed minutes, he got back fit before Christmas, and the plan was always to loan him. He’ll have a good chance at Blackpool now with a good manager, who will play him and give him the minutes he needs.”

Goode, 27, has played 20 times in all competitions for Thomas Frank’s side since his switch. He made his Blackpool debut in their FA Cup clash away at Premier League side Southampton last time out and will be eyeing a consistent run in Mick McCarthy’s team now as they look to beat the drop.

In other Brentford news, goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe is set to play for loan club Bristol Rovers for their next two games due to a clause in his deal, as per BristolWorld. The Pirates brought him in to compete for their number one spot and he has to feature in a certain number of games.
