Brentford are reportedly open to offloading Sergi Canos this month. The wing-back has struggled for game time so far this season.

According to Sky Sports (live transfer blog, 12.01.23, 09.39), the Bees are ‘willing’ to listen to offers for him in this January transfer window. The player is understood to be ‘frustrated’ at his lack of minutes this season and clubs in his native Spain are understood to be keeping tabs on his situation.

Brentford swooped to sign the former Spain youth international back in 2017 from Norwich City and he has since been a great servant to the London club. He helped them gain promotion to the Premier League back in 2021 under Thomas Frank.

He has made 247 apppearances in all competitions since his switch and has chipped in with 36 goals. However, his opportunities have dried up this term due to strong competition for places and he has played just five times in the league.

Prior to his move to the Bees, the former Barcelona youth player moved to England as a youngster to join Liverpool and spent three years at Anfield. He had a loan spell at Griffin Park in the 2015/16 campaign before finding his way back to Brentford 12 months later via a brief permanent stint at Carrow Road.

Canos is down the pecking order at the Gtech Community Stadium these days and following the arrival of Kevin Schade from Eintracht Frankfurt last week, he could head out the exit door. His contract expires this summer.
