Brentford decided against recalling Halil Dervisoglu from his loan spell at Burnley last month because he can’t play for another club this season. The Turkey international is due to spend the rest of the campaign at Turf Moor but has struggled for game time with Vincent Kompany’s side.

He was given the green light to join the Clarets last summer but has since made just six league appearances in the Championship, chipping in with a single goal. There have been whispers this winter that the Bees would bring him back to the Gtech Community Stadium. However, he stayed put beyond the transfer deadline on Wednesday.

Dervisoglu, 23, played for Brentford earlier this season so if he was recalled he wouldn’t be able to play for anyone else until the summer and would most likely be stuck with their B team. Yeni Safak reported that Fenerbahce were keen to lure him away to the Turkish Super Lig but nothing materialised.

Hull City held talks with him last year as well, as per Hull Live, but he went to Burnley instead. He faces a frustrating few months ahead now as he finds himself down the pecking order and has to wait aroufive or six months to find a new home.

In other news, Brentford new boy Kevin Schade has said it is a ‘dream’ to be playing in England and has told Sky Sports Germany: “The Premier League has always been my dream. Brentford is a good club so I can get used to English football.”
