Arsenal are in for a busy summer as they look to recruit new players in a number of key areas, particularly up front where they are being linked with several big names.
Who they sign could depend on whether or not they finish in the top four this season and qualify for the Champions League and the Gunners have four fixtures remaining to secure that target.
They face relegation battling Leeds United at home this Sunday, May 8 before a massive game away to North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, May 12.
That fixture could have serious ramifications on who finishes inside the top four.
Mikel Arteta’s side then have Newcastle United away and Everton at home in their final two matches of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
Once the dust has settled on the on-field action it will be time to fully focus on the transfer window and making sure they get their summer recruitment right.
Top priority is likely to be signing a new striker, if not two, and that has seen them linked with a number of big names but there is also all to add to defence and midfield.
Here is how an Arsenal starting XI could line up for the first game of the 2022/23 season based on the most prominent transfer rumours from the past few weeks:
1. GK - Aaron Ramsdale
The England international will be expected to retain the starting place between the sticks after an excellent debut season for the club.
2. RB - Djed Spence
The Gunners have been linked with the Middlesbrough full-back, who has impressed on-loan at Nottingham Forest, for months and it is reported that a £20m fee will be enough to secure the services of the 21-year old.
3. CB - Ben White
Arsenal need to strengthen up-front and could do with midfielder reinforcements but they have great depth in defence led by the £50m former Brighton man.
4. CB - Gabriel Magalhaes
The Brazilian has had his best season since signing for the club in 2020 and they may need to hold off reported interest from Juventus and Man U in the summer to keep him at the Emirates.
