Mikel Arteta has already given his thoughts on Bukayo Saka’s contract situation.

Arsenal are still working on a new deal for Saka, who has become an indispensable part of Arteta’s plans. Saka is now one of the stars of the show at the Emirates Stadium, building on an impressive season of last with a fine start to the current campaign. The 21-year-old has scored five and assisted seven across all competitions so far this term.

The problem for Arsenal is that Saka is out of contract in 2024, and the club are well aware that having one of England’s most talented players under a short contract is far from ideal. Though, the main thing is that they have him, and they do still hold all the cards given Saka still has more than a year remaining on his deal.

Talks are ongoing, but there are fresh transfer reports claiming Manchester City may be interested in trying to tempt Saka with a big-money contract.

We haven’t heard too much about the contract situation recently, but we do have anupdate from Arteta that came back in October.

“I am very confident that we as a club and Bukayo, his family, his agent, everybody, we are very much aligned in what we want to achieve. And now it is about putting it on a piece of paper,” Arteta said. “I would like that to get done, because I don’t want the player or anybody distracted while we are in the middle of the season. But those things take time and they have to go through the right process, and I think the process has been really good.”

With talks ongoing, it’s very unlikely Arsenal would even consider a sale in January or beyond. The most likely scenario remains that Saka signs a new deal with the Gunners, but intil it’s official, nothing is certain.
