Liverpool transfer 'priority' emerges in blow to Arsenal and Chelsea

Liverpool were crowned Premier League Champions as they beat Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday and Arne Slot is now expected to turn his attention to the summer transfer window.
The Reds have run away with the top flight title this term with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City falling well away from the race, but had to wait until the end of April to have their destiny as Champions confirmed. Celebrations took over Merseyside over the weekend but the club will know that retaining the trophy next term should be a harder mission.

Hide AdSlot and Liverpool are expected to be active in the summer window and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has outlined the club’s priorities in his latest GiveMeSport newsletter. When asked about the most pressing tasks at Anfield, Romano replied: “Left back is a possibility, centre back too with the battle for Dean Huijsen with Arsenal and Chelsea also involved. And then for sure I expect someone upfront with Darwin leaving.”
Liverpool part of Chelsea and Arsenal transfer race
Huijsen has enjoyed a head-turning season at AFC Bournemouth, excelling under the stewardship of Andoni Iraola. The centre-back has made 28 top flight appearances and become a regular in the Cherries starting XI.
The former Juventus man, who arrived at the Vitality Stadium for £15 million last summer, is said to be wanted by Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. The defender, who has scored against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur this season, is believed to have a £50 million release clause in his contract.
In London, Chelsea have been short of options at centre-back this season with Trevoh Chalobah recalled from his loan at Crystal Palace halfway through the campaign. Meanwhile, at Arsenal, Jakub Kiwior has deputised for the injured Gabriel but is not thought to be seen as a long-term Gunners star with stalwart William Saliba also linked with a move to Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.

Virgin Van Dijk has signed a new contract at Anfield to keep him at Liverpool until 2027 but Huijsen, who is just 20 years old, could be seen as the natural successor for the commanding Dutchman. The Express has claimed that Chelsea could offer Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile or Levi Colwill to AFC Bournemouth as part of a swap deal to win the transfer race.
When asked about the transfer rumours circling around Huijsen at the moment, Iraola said: “From what I see every day, training and playing, I don’t think it is affecting him at all. I see him in the same mood that he normally is. He’s training well and I think he’s playing well also.
“Even being young, this is not something that is strange for him. He’s coming from big teams, even if he wasn’t in the first-team. But he’s coming from Roma, from Juventus, from teams where these things are probably quite natural and I see him quite normal.”
