Liverpool are among the Premier League clubs who could move to sign Bukayo Saka from Arsenal this summer - provided the Gunners fail to qualify for the Champions League this term.

According to a report from ESPN, the 20-year-old is attracting attention from a couple of high-profile top flight sides, with Manchester City also monitoring his situation.

Saka’s contract in north London expires in 2023, and it is understood that he could look to make the next step in his career if Mikel Arteta’s men miss out on a top four finish this term.

How likely are Arsenal to let Saka go?

You would imagine that the Gunners would be hugely reluctant to part with one of their brightest young talents.

If ESPN’s update is accurate, however, then there are two sizeable factors at play here.

Firstly, Saka’s future may depend on whether or not Arsenal finish in a Champions League spot this season.

At the time of writing, the Gunners are sixth in the table, two points off the top four, but with crucial games in hand over the sides above them.

Things won’t be plain sailing for Arteta’s men, however, with their failure to bring in a new striker following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looking as if it has left them slightly light at the point of attack.

Whether they have what it takes to sustain a top four bid, only time will tell.

The other issue could be how heavily Saka himself pushes for a move.

The winger’s contract doesn’t expire until 2023, meaning that the Gunners have no obligation to let him go for at least another year, but if the wide man makes it clear that he has no intention of signing a contract extension, then there is a chance the club could sell him this summer to avoid the financial blow of a free transfer next summer
