Fulham are said to have upped their bid to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay. According to Goal, the Cottagers have increased their offer after seeing their initial £20million offer ejected.
The report claims Fulham’s second offer is still below United’s £30million asking price, and it remains to be seen whether talks will continue in a bid to reach a deal. It has been reported that the Red Devils want to keep McTominay, but Fulham are hoping to test United’s resolve as they bid to replace Joao Palhinha.
Ten Hag on De Ligt
Sticking with Man United for a moment, Erik ten Hag has responded to links with Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt after new centre-back Leny Yoro was ruled out for around three months.
In an interview with Dutch media outlet AD, Ten Hag said: “It remains to be seen whether Matthijs de Ligt will come, I know him well. I wanted to sign him two years ago but, at that time, he was already very far along to join Bayern.”

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has been speaking about his side’s struggles to get deals done amid the presence of Profit and Sustainability rules. He told Japanese media: “I think a blockbuster like that might be difficult. The rules have changed. Transfers have changed. I hope that it’s not permanently. I hope in time we will improve our position to enable to sign that calibre of player. Currently that is difficult for us right now.
“We are navigating a period where we have to be very aware of what we are doing financially. We are having to plan ahead. But I hope that won’t be forever. All markets (are being explored) but I think the free transfers are gone. We’ve got one in Lloyd who I think is a brilliant one and there are a couple of others out there but I think now it is about probably signing players for money. Loans are always difficult.”
